For die-hard Dylan fanatics like myself, this is a five-star release. The 1966 world tour is Dylan at the pinnacle of his creative abilities, performing live with a set of immensely talented musicians (The Hawks) that would later go on to become a very influential group in their own right as The Band. Night after night Dylan would first perform a solo acoustic set in which his dense, poetic lyrics are complemented only by his guitar and harmonica. During this first half, the audience usually (though not in Paris) listened with rapt attention, and politely applauded at the end of each song.

Then, following an intermission, Dylan and the Hawks faced the anger of the folk purists as they plugged in their electric instruments to perform the electric half of the show. During this half of the show, angry shouts and slow hand clapping can often be heard from the audience between songs, and Dylan occasionally seems to antagonize the audience by mumbling his between song introductions. Near the conclusion of the final show at London's Royal Albert Hall, Dylan says, in a tone dripping with sarcasm, "Believe me, we've enjoyed eeevery minute of being here!" ( )
