I wasn't impressed with this book. In fact, I found it terribly tedious to read. A dog goes to a doggy daycare, and then later falls into icy water because she does not listen. I suppose the point of this book is to reassure the child who is starting daycare, and recognize their fears, but the text is lengthy and definitely not appropriate but for a 3-4 year old with a good attention span (by the time which they probably know everything about daycare anyway) and the details provided in the text are just not that interesting. It was sort of like hearing a mother going on and on about the most mundane, trivial things in her infants day, the things that have no conversational interest except maybe to the very parents.

The main character Rosa is a neurotic, non obedient dog and it's sort of implied that this is why she's sent to daycare (not sure what the message to the child is here), but at daycare she meets even stranger characters such as the male dog who loves all female dogs, and thus he shares a room with only females and takes turns sleeping with them in their baskets (WTF!) And then the icy water incident: I think the "daycare ladies" (and this is how they're referred to) should have taken better care to explain and teach the rules to the dogs before they took them on field trip with disastrous consequences.

All in all, the book just left me puzzled, so worthless did I find it. My kid sat through it, but I doubt he'll ask for a reread. The illustrations in black, white and mostly brown colors are okay, somewhat dull, but didn't tie terribly well in with the text. And I soon gave up on trying to figure out which dog was which, as there weren't really enough clues in the text anyway, lengthy as it still was. But maybe I just don't care enough about dogs in general. And, unfortunately my son didn't seem to care all that much either. However, if you really like dogs, I'd recommend the so much more fun [b:See Me Run|12046971|See Me Run|Paul Meisel|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1348008079s/12046971.jpg|17013753]. ( )
