Three Christmas stories that aren’t over the top sappy. They each deal with painful subjects but yet do end with satisfying conclusions.

Just Like the Ones We Used to Know
Angela Forrester became the foster mother to her childhood friends daughter when she decided drugs were more important than anything else. The girl has struggled in school and with fitting in and her only wish in life is to find her father. Angela knows who the father is but the circumstances of how she was conceived has Angela worried that Matt Jackson may not be so accepting of the daughter he never knew about. This was at times a heartbreaking view of having a mother and a friend that is an addict who has no desire to make any changes in her life not even for her daughter.

On a Snowy Christmas
Two people, who have both lost their spouses in death are now vying for the same political position, are on a small private plane going to a political function when it crashes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. These two have to depend on each other to survive and in the process learn that the other isn’t what they thought they were. But both have to put the ghost of the past to rest before even thinking about a relationship once they are rescued. This was a good story about two people in their 40’s who get a second chance at love but before that happens a shocking revelation has to be dealt with.

A Dundee Christmas
Cierra came to America from Guatemala to marry a man in his 70’s so she would be able to provide from her sisters back home. But before they can marry he dies of a stroke and she is now left penniless and without a visa in a strange country. She ends up in Dundee, Idaho hoping for a job but lands frozen on the doorstep of Ken Holbrook who cant turn this woman who is obviously in trouble away. This story shows the ugly side of what happens to women in third world countries when they don’t have male family to take care of them. I wish this one could have been a little longer or at least with a epilogue but it did end with a nice HPN.
