( ) When Adèle and Simon arrive for a visit with their uncle in China, he buys Adèle a camera and Simon a number of small items, including a flute and fan. Set in the early 1900s, Adèle describes the sites they visit, including the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, on postcards to her mother and takes pictures along their journey, recording all of the places where Simon loses his gifts. Author’s Note. Parisian siblings Adèle and Simon return in this third picture-book devoted to their globe-trotting adventures. In the first book, they explored early twentieth-century Paris, while they toured America in the second. Here, as the title suggests, they head to China, where they meet up with their photographer uncle and see some of the sights of that Asian country. As in the previous books, careless Simon loses his possessions throughout, adding a "search and find" element to the reading experience... Having greatly enjoyed the first two titles about Adèle and Simon, I was excited to pick up Lost and Found: Adèle & Simon in China, which was something of a surprise, when published in 2016, given that it had been eight years since the second title had come out, and I was not expecting there to be a third. Needless to say, I'm glad that there is, and would welcome a fourth and fifth installment as well! The artwork here, done in pen and ink and watercolor, is just beautiful, and the story-tour engrossing. I think my favorite page was the one on which Simon and a panda bear come face to face. Recommended to anyone who enjoyed the first two books about Adèle and Simon, and to anyone looking for picture-books set in historical China. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
