Great selection of ten short stories published between 1986 and 2003. The essays by Marc Sobel are insightful and enjoyable. Moore's intelligence shines through as ever in these various subjects: Futuristic virus, inevitable changes to the comic industry, biography of W.D. Ehrhart (Vietnam Veteran), LGBT plight throughout history, a horror-show story, capitalist corruption of (Japanese) culture, autobiography of Moore returning to Jack the Ripper's lair, fictional biography of Kool-Aid Man, Moore's response to the 9-11 attack, and biography of John Whiteside Parsons. A fascinating collection of Alan Moore's uncollected short comics. The shorts themselves are great, the selection is smart and varied, and Marc Sobel's essays on each are informative and mercifully unpretentious. The print quality isn't great, but I'll take it. A must for Moore fans. ( )
