A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow--impossible though it seems--they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.… (más)

Free intro to a good book

I guess that the title says it all. But you have to put so many words here to submit the thing ( )

Miss Peregrine is the head mistress of a hidden school from the real world. They are hidden in time where they are free to be themselves, free from ridicule and free to be happy. This book is about how a little boy discovered his own grandfather had been a child here, and kept their secret. A dark fantasy for teens and adults alike. This book is engaging and I believe keep the reader interested.

I found this to be a wonderful book about how this "normal" child begun to aid in the "peculiar" children and accepted them as "normal". He accepted them for their unique abilities rather then sun them.

I find this book to be excellent in either the teen age or really the preteen. Could be used to defuse the bully situation that may arise in the classroom, or aid in acceptance with children with special needs. I also feel that the time jumping would aid in some historical content, and actually gives me an idea for a lesson plan in my methods class! ( )

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the writing style and I loved the incorporation of the vintage photographs. The story is unique and interesting. There were a lot of characters and you dont really get to know too many of them, but I think that helps sent up more stories for the future.

I did think it was a little weird that the main female character was the romantic interest of the main male character's grandfather and then later become the romantic interest of the main male character. ( )

This is actually my first book I have read of Ransom Riggs and I will definitely be reading Hollow city which is book 2 in this series.

Where to begin first to say I loved the pictures , it really helps you when you have a hard time imagining the children and this was actually my first book in years which had pictures in it and I really enjoyed it

But I did not find the story creepy but that also could just be me , but however I did enjoy it , although I still think it is kind of weird how Jacob is suddenly in a 'relationship' with Emma while he himself said how he thought that it was kind of weird to be kissing the girl his grandpa also had something with ( )
