This book is a collection of various fairy tales such as Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and Puss in Boots. I truly enjoyed reading each tale and recalling the time my parents and babysitters orally retold these stories to me, before bedtime. The illustrations were simple, yet colorful and captivating. Without them, the book wouldn’t be as enjoyable to read as it was. In some books, the words do the talking, but in this one the illustrations on their own depicted realistic tales of characters and their individual stories. At times, the illustrations had the effect of swallowing the book whole when they took up both pages in its entirety. I didn’t particularly like the large amount of text on each page, but I understand that it’s necessary for the sake of fitting text on a page and setting a limit for the length of the entire book. I loved that over time, the language of each tale remained true to how the traditional tales were always told, “Long ago in a faraway land..” and “Once upon a time..”. The third person narration also ties in with this and does a great job of staying genuine to the genre and style of fairytale writing. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
