If I were younger and had enough energy to keep up with her, I'd sure love to have a child like this creative, thoughtful, and affectionate little girl. Who'da thunk Sachar would be able to write such a delightful picture-book, after he's been focusing on children's and YA? Does he write for adults, too?! This story is about a young girl whose father is sick. She makes him "soup" with all of the things that make her feel better... balloons, tissues, her stuffed monkey etc. It will tie in nicely when discussing pre-writing and generating ideas, then narrowing them down to topics that will actually work with the story and not be excessive In hopes of helping her sick father, a little girl creates a soup of her own while her mother creates chicken noodle soup. The monkey soup contains everything from a blanket to bubbles to a stuffed toy monkey. her father of course feels so much better after receiving his soup! This book was cute and funny, and one for grades k-3 When Daddy is sick, Mommy makes him chicken soup to fill better. The little girl decided to make her own soup for Daddy too. The little girl's soup is not what you would expect though. With ingredients like band-aids, crayons because "Daddy is pale," and a stuffed monkey, her soup is not very edible. She added everything that makes her happy in hopes of making her daddy happy too. Daddy ends up loving the soup. I loved this book because it was so cute. It showed the true love children have for their parents. It also shows the impression that parents leave on their children. The little girl wanted to be just like her mom. I found it very interesting to see it from the adult perspective because it made it that much cuter and funnier. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Review:
This is non-fiction because everything in this book could happen in real life. The girl is making a “soup” of everything that cheers her up.
Use:
1) Talk about what the girl was thinking about
2) Talk about people who get sick and how to get them to feel better ( )
