I think it could've had a bit more about the need to be fit and to eat veggies, but the message that fat kids aren't of less worth is important. And it certainly was funny! ( ) I was glad this book was short, because it was on the verge of overstaying its welcome. In his own way I think Pinkwater has some good points to make and he makes them with good humor. I just thought the premise ran out after a while. Nonetheless, this is a fun, entertaining read, especially for reluctant readers. Very short, very simple book. One of the traditional "summer camp is horrible and the people running it are corrupt, let's run away and punish them for it" stories, which I used to eat like candy as a small child. Except of course in this one the horrible, corrupt summer camp is a fat camp, so along with the standard "adults can't be trusted" message, there's a heaping helping of "big is beautiful" too. (And unexpected Gilbert and Sullivan.) Not particularly subtle, but very fun and fast-paced, gets the message across vividly, and an easy read. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
