Mistakes are made, meanings are misconstrued (or completely misread) and everything's character-driven. It ends neatly, at a cusp, another well done aspect I see abused too often in romances. I have a friend who is ADHD, in some ways worse than Josiah, so his character rang true for me in ways that felt important. The anger Ryan has is common and his struggle through it felt genuine. But the aspect that shows this writer's talent was in their ways of thinking. I laughed out loud at some of the differences in phrasing thoughts because they were perfect. As the author does, so do I thank everyone who helped her give us this story. Well done! Josiah Simmons can't believe he's late for one of the most important flights of his career. He's on his way to Germany to meet with the design team for an expansion to his company's wildly popular game. Despite his best efforts, though, here he is. And although part of him says he should remain focused--he gets distracted easily enough on his own--he can't help taking notice of the wildly attractive man sitting next to him. And it's a bonus when he learns the guy is a gamer, and he just happens to play Josiah's game. Ryan Orson is hoping for an uneventful flight back to Washington, D.C., so he can get back to his physical therapy. His injuries have put his future as a Navy SEAL in question. But Ryan plans to do all he can to get back to active duty. When he meets Josiah, however, he decides the flight may as well be a little more eventful than he'd planned. When their plane is rerouted to St. Louis due to weather, Josiah sees an opportunity to get to know Ryan better. But after he sticks his foot in his mouth, he figures he's ruined that opportunity altogether. There's something about Josiah that gives Ryan pause, however, and he finds himself willing to let things go long enough to help Josiah out for just one night. But what that one night might lead to is something neither of them has really figured out just yet... -- This series is absolutely wonderful. The way Annabeth Albert writes characters is simply masterful. It's so easy to get into their world as a reader. And the writing is so engaging that I always find it difficult to put these books down. I do recommend starting from the beginning just for the purpose of catching these in order. But they can all be read as stand-alone books as each focuses on a different set of main characters. It's typical of video game programmer Josiah Simmons to be the last one on the plane on the way to the biggest meeting of his career. Though he's (mostly) coping with his ADHD, he can't handle another distraction. But he also can't ignore his rugged seatmate-especially once he learns the military man's a fan of his game. Ryan Orson refuses to let his severe injuries pause his career as a navy SEAL. He's got hours of grueling physical therapy ahead of him, and no time for anything that might get in the way of his return to active duty. But that doesn't mean he's above a little first-class flirtation with geeky-cute Josiah. When a delay strands the pair in St. Louis, they agree to share a hotel room and a night of gaming. Neither expects their new connection to move to the next level in the light of day. Opposites may attract, but is this game over before it's even begun? I did like Josiah and Ryan together, as their personalities seemed like good foils, but I think this book would have benefited from another 25 pages. ( )
