Expired Hope takes readers back to Last Chance County for the second installment in the Fire and Rescue series. This story centers around Macon and Natalie. Macon wants to be fire chief, but first he will need a positive assessment by Natalie, a counselor that has been assigned to evaluate the crew at the fire house. It becomes quite apparent through some nail-biting situations that Natalie is going to need help from Macon as much as he is going to require help from her. Both of them have issues to work through from their pasts, but readers get to see them both grow so much throughout the story. There were some twists I did not see coming and I was engaged by the dangerous action scenes throughout the book. There was definitely a good balance of romance and suspense.

Thank you to the author and publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. ( )

Title: Dead End (Love Inspired Suspense)
Author: Lisa Phillips

My rating 5 out of 5 stars.
Nina Holmes lost her mother by the hand of an assailant that has yet been brought to justice. Nina also lost her father. She served in the CIA before having to retire from injuries. Now, before she begins her new job as a teacher of economics in the fall, Nina is devoting her time to solving her mother’s cold case. Will there be a cost to opening the case files?
Nina trusts only her also retired covert op friend Sienna and is learning to trust Sienna’s husband who is a U.S. Marshall, but his partner Wyatt she holds at a distance. Nina’s life now has a bull’s eye on it as an assailant begins making multiple attempts on her life always seemingly one step ahead of her. The story is high octane suspense as it’s a race to protect Nina and other girls against this person’s constant attempt to take life.
Along the way Nina is beginning to understand how the years of being an undercover operative for the CIA have affected her, though her faith is strong. Is there a budding romance starting between Wyatt and Nina or will they just remain friends? For me, this story kept me on the edge of my seat, turning pages until the end! So, grab a copy and then hang on for one wild ride!
