Abel Yeager survived his last trucking adventure and he’s living a nice quiet life with the love of his life and her son when his buddy Victor “Por Que” Ruiz comes aknocking. After earthquakes screw up the Sierra Madre region of Mexico and the drug cartels are making things more difficult for relief efforts, Victor’s distant cousin, a priest at an orphanage, needs help getting a truckload of supplies in. Yeager can’t turn away, so off he flies in Victor’s helicopter. It’s a dangerous situation, but Yeager doesn’t like it when bad guys hurt innocent people. As far as he’s concerned they can kill each other all they want, but put women and children in harm’s way and it makes him want to put the big hurt on them. Only this time he might not make it back to Charlie and David.
Holy shit! I cannot express how much I lurve Abel Yeager. I have the Big Crush on him. Charlie better watch out! Just kidding. I have a Marine of my own. *winks* There is so much to love in this story that I don’t even know where to start. There are multiple POVs that all come together in the end, suspense, action, bad guys, good guys, mystery, love and humor all mixed together to make the tastiest of treats to read. I had the hardest time putting this awesome adrenaline-fueled story down. I did so only when real life forced me to. Real life is an asshat sometimes. And omg, that ending! I knew it! I won’t spoil what I knew, but I will say I think I know where Yeager and Por Que will be heading next. Maybe. Maybe the situation will be resolved in another way. But I hope I’m right in guessing the next adventure. *rubs hands together*
My only complaint, as in the last book, is the fact that Marine should be capitalized and there are no ex-Marines. Huge pet peeves of mine, but the rest of the story rocks so I only deducted half a bite (star) for what I (and every other Marine and their families) consider the hugest faux pas around. I wanted my husband to read this story. In fact, I know he would love it, but he refuses to read anything where Marine is not capitalized and he despises the term ex-Marine, so I guess I’ll have to wallow in my post-read nirvana all by myself. (
