Both Jax and Faith are hurting souls. Jax's heart was broken when his wife rejected him shortly after the accident that caused his scars. Faith's heart was bruised when a guy she'd been seeing for a couple years rejected her, refused to let her see his son with whom she'd bonded, and disparaged her parenting skills. Both turned to horses for healing: Jax feels more comfortable with horses where he doesn't have to worry his one-sided deafness keeps him from understanding what's going on. Faith has a heart to save wild mustangs.
I admire Faith's heart for rescue horses, but she buys a dilapidated farm (perhaps because of the cheap acreage) and jumps in with both feet before having anything ready, including a way to keep the horses within her property. I can't believe that her old mentor, an experienced horse rescuer, who brought the first two horses, would allow them to stay on a property where they weren't safely contained--but apparently she does. It just doesn't seem that Faith was very responsible as far as the horses she planned to rescue. ( )
