Hank Phillippi Ryan's Jane Ryland has witnessed a car accident on her way to another story. Due to her investigative talents, she commits the scene and the driver to memory. But when she is asked to identify the driver, things go awry. Meanwhile, her boyfriend/fiance, Jake Brogan, is investigating the murder of a visiting professor who was found dead in her pool. Jane and Jake's cases intertwine, as usual, and their bosses don't seem to make it easy for them to do their job. This story involves fraud, sexual assaults/cover-ups and murder.
All in a day's work for Jane and Jake! ( )

I READ ALL OF THIS AUTHORS WORKS. THEY DO NOT DISAPPOINT, EACH ONE IS COMPLETE IN ITSELF WHILE STILL CONTINUING THE STORY OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS. THIS BOOK IS A STORY OF LIVES OF DECEPTION AND THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY RAPE ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS. ( )

The latest Jane Rylan/Jake Brogan tale opens with a hit-and-run and quickly dives into mystery and a search for answers. Jake is investigating the murder of Hollywood screenwriter Avery Morgan while Jane is putting together a documentary aimed at exposing sexual assaults at a prestigious college. She hopes to convince women to speak up, to tell what happened to them instead of hiding it away.

When Jane unexpectedly receives a “Say No More” warning at her home, she finds herself considering what the enigmatic message means. Is she to be silent about the assaults she is researching? Or is the message about the hit-and-run she witnessed? Is she in danger? Will speaking out put her in jeopardy? What happens is she keeps silent?
And, while their investigations may be problematic, another issue lurks for Jane and Jake: can they . . . should they . . . keep silent about their relationship?

The depth of character development, the gripping, interweaving plot lines, and the constantly-building tension will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the final reveal. The story is moving, realistic, and timely. Don’t miss this one.

Highly recommended. ( )

I read the first in this series when it came out, and have missed the others until now, which actually is kind of delightful, because I know there are some well-written, beautifully crafted novels awaiting me. The author proves both her skill as an investigative reporter and that as a writer, once again.

From the author's website:
Her career is all about the truth—but now, keeping silent may be her last chance to stay alive.

When Boston reporter Jane Ryland reports a hit and run, she soon learns she saw more than a car crash—she witnessed the collapse of an alibi, and now she's under pressure to tell all to the police. She's also digging up the inside scoop for an expose of sexual assaults on Boston's college campuses for the station's new documentary unit, and is working with a victim to reveal her heartbreaking experience on camera. But, a disturbing anonymous message—SAY NO MORE—has Jane really and truly scared. Who is supposed to keep quiet? And why?

Homicide detective Jake Brogan is on the hunt for the murderer of Avery Morgan, a hot-shot Hollywood screenwriter. Her year as a college guest lecturer just ended at the bottom of her swimming pool in the tight-knit and tight-lipped Boston community called The Reserve. As Jake chips his way through a code of silence as shatterproof as any street gang, he'll learn that one newcomer to the neighborhood may have a secret of her own.

A young woman faces a life-changing decision—should she go public about her assault? What's really going on behind closed doors at a prestigious Boston college? And will the killer strike again? Jane and Jake—now semi-secretly engaged and beginning to reveal their relationship to the world—are both on a high-stakes quest for answers as they try to balance the consequences of the truth. ( )
