The images visually direct the learning, while the text reinforces with instructional language. The learning is broken into segments or chunks to help the learner understand, experience, and practice the learning. The writing in the book is “kid” oriented and practical. Most kids will have a positive learning experience in groups or individually while using the book. The learning mechanism provided in “Get Coding…” supports the current trend to begin coding early in K-6 education. Coding in general supports structural and sequential thinking. A key aspect of the book is learning within a creative environment. Recommended.

But with that said, what I have read through is really easy to understand, and the illustrations are helpful and engaging. I think this is a good resource for kids interested in coding. ( )

All you need to get started is a computer and this programming guide, a book that's just right for beginners of any age to develop real coding skills. Follow the step-by-step instructions through six missions and you will learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. There's a lot of information, it's very useful, and it's formatted in a good way with fun pictures and fun missions. Not having any coding back ground this book was a little bit of a challenge for me. I never did try to make an app. It was too daunting. Students who have someone to help them or who have worked with code before will find this book helpful. However people like me whom don't have any coding experience I need something much simpler. ( )

My kids were instantly engrossed in this book. It has very clear instructions for creating a variety of web pages and online materials. Older kids could certainly create their own website using this book. I would highly recommend this book for kids interested in coding. ( )
