I bought this on a whim, my daughter is a GRIT (girl raised in the South) and I lived in Georgia ten years. I thought this book would be irritating, another silly book - but I found this to be a series of (mostly) good essay like chapters about growing older in a youthful world, marriage, friendships, children, etc. I think Thompson did a pretty good job here. I would use this book as a favor at a girlfriend party. I might even discreetly place a bookmark in areas where I thought friends might find applicable information for their own lives! ( )

Humerous essays about family life from a Southern woman's perspective. The essays cover familiar topics from swimsuit shopping to batteling with squirrels in the attic. It's not a badly written book, but the essays brought nothing new to the subjects. Others have been here before and done it better. A book I'd pick up to glance through when I have nothing else to read. ( )
