I liked this book for a few reasons. First, I loved how this book portrayed factual information in song verses. Each two-page spread included text that detailed information about a different part of the body but was written in verse like song lyrics are written. For example, the page entitled “Bones, Bones, Bones” included information such as the amount of bones in the body and what they do to help us and did so all in song verse. This page also enumerated different, well-known types of bones such as the fibula, tibia, and radius that are all explained in stanzas, not paragraphs. Another reason I liked this book is for the CD that the book comes with that could be used to play the songs. The CD has the songs that accompany the lyrics of the book. This was incredibly helpful for me because I could not imagine how the information would sound like while I was reading the book myself. Some of the songs, such as “Amazing Senses” had a rhyme scheme that I could catch onto and use to make my own song in my head, but for the pages like “Bones, Bones, Bones” I was better able to enjoy and remember the information from the book once I listened to the songs on the CD since I had a tune to carry through the text. Overall, the big idea of this book was to teach the reader about some parts of the body and do so by detailing the information in verse, giving the reader a more enjoyable and personable touch to the potentially new information.
