I have never read the Michael Bennett series but I had no problem following the action and personalities of this story. The action moves fast as the book is a little over a hundred pages. I would like to say I'm shocked but the bad guys but I'm not. It is a shame that the bad guys are who they are. I also hated the attitudes of some of the other characters. I liked Mike Bennett and Joe Walke--two heroes. Too bad others were not as heroic. This is part of James Patterson's Bookshots line. I like this line--short reads done within a couple of hours. I'll be reading more of this line. All of the intrigue and procedural action you would expect from a Bennett novel condensed into 144 pages, the main casualty seemed to be the personal interactions between Bennett and his extended family, although there was a little of such. It was an interesting little story of a mysterious guy being thrown off the roof of a boutique Manhattan hotel by a pair of mysterious guys, as the investigation proceeds it turns out the guy thrown off the roof was recorded as being killed in action in Iraq back in 2007. Yet apparently he wasn't. Enjoyable quick read, even quicker than the standard Patterson novel by a factor of 2. I like Michael Bennett and his wacky family of 10 adopted children, his priest grandfather, and his children's nanny, Mary, but this story makes him the luckiest man ever. A death made to look like a suicide has Michael investigating. The investigation takes him from NY to DC to PA. He uncovers a secret that the military doesn't want exposed. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
