This book is, to put it mildly, not a very gentle treatment of its subject. It can be a valuable resource in studying a certain religion, but that religion is not, despite the title, Roman Catholicism. Rather, that religion is the staunchly anti-Roman Protestantism of the author. If you want a look at how Roman Catholicism was perceived by an influential mid-twentieth-century Protestant controversialist, then this is the book for you. ( )

Dr. Boettner has written an interesting and informative book from the viewpoint of evangelical Protestantism which presents the two systems in strong contrast. The present day Roman Catholic Church is compared with the Church of the first century. Constant reference is made to Scripture teaching, and the material is presented in non-technical language that the average Christian can follow with ease.

Standard Study on Roman Catholicism. Boettner's schorlarship is distilled into an easy-to-read style. Useful for personal or group study, and excellent as a textbook for the classroom. ( )
