So precious! My daughter loved this funny story geared towards showing children how to be a good friend. The illustrations were colorful and eye-catching and the book even included a little look-and-find page in the back to find hidden animals throughout the book. ( )

This book was lovely, and I am in love with the illustrations. Hector is the old bear and Hummingbird is the hyperactive kid that doesn’t give the old man any peace and quiet. You have seen stories like this told over and over and they are classic. It could be Dennis the Menace, or the animated dogs from the Looney Tunes cartoon. This classic story is told in a new way, with a much nicer outcome. Plus the ILLUSTRATIONS! ( )

This is a sweet story of friendship between a bear and a hummingbird. In this story Hector the bear gets annoyed with his friend Hummingbird because Hummingbird never stops talking. Hector yells at Hummingbird and travels into the forest alone, and he soon becomes lonely without Hummingbird. However in the end Hummingbird had been following the whole time and was there to surprise Hector when Hector needed him. I think that this would be a great book to use in the classroom to talk about issues in friendships or personal space. This book can be used to start that discussion and use as an example for how to solve problems.

As we read this with Evie I got a sense of the familiar...a bear and an annoying bird friend...hmm...Goodnight Already!? While there are similarities, they're handled differently. Hector and Hummingbird talk about their differences and Hector tells Hummingbird how he's feeling. The illustrations aren't anything alike between the two, but I still enjoyed both. Both are fun to read aloud though and Evie liked this one as much as the Jory John. ( )
