I thought this was an interesting take on Christianity. Overall, the story was very well written and I was captivated the entire book. I did listen to this in audiobook form and was very impressed. For some folks that are very particular about Christianity and don't leave room for interpretation, this book would not be for you. For those that enjoy a good story that ties to Christianity, this is a winner! ( )Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I have mixed feelings about 'The Greatest Story Ever Told: A Love Story'. I was fortunate to receive an audio copy to review through LibraryThing, so my review is based on the audio recording. While Rebe James' story, which is based on her theories, is interesting at times, it is also convoluted. There were entire sections of the book that I found myself tuning out because nothing really happened or the characters were discussing an event or 'fact' that is untrue, based on current-day science. The book's character's and basic plot line initiates from the bible, so I had a difficult time with the use of modern-day terminology and wording with an ancient-day setting. Also, I couldn't bond with the characters; Yosef was okay, however while Miriam may be smart she is also really spoiled and annoying. The book was not convincing as a love story for me. I did find some sections discussing religious beliefs interesting though. The best I can say, is that the book is different. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This is a very endearing book. Well written and spoken by the author, it is a perfect book to listen to while working on my coloring book. Miriam and Yosef are very believable, and hearing them interact with each other has been a treat.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I received the audio book for this story for free. I'm still listening to it, though, so my review won't be complete. I'll come back and edit the review in once I've finished it. What an amazing tale. It is the same story we know so well, sort of, but so much of the background of the time is flushed out to help the reader engage in the story. This is a charming love story of Miriam Helios and Yosef of Arimathea, told through crisp dialogue and a good narrative. I particularly loved the reference to the Essene community of Qumran, it was like the Dead Sea Scrolls were coming to life in front of my eyes. At times the author is intense with the material being relayed, but even so the information is enjoyable and makes one think. Wouldn't it be nice to know for sure that there really is a reason for everything, and that we are all part of each other! We could stop the fighting and endless strife that can never be explained, and begin living the lives we were meant to lead. What a lovely thought. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
