Fiction. Literature. Romance. HTML:It's no secret that Portland, Oregon, has some of best restaurants, shops, and cafés in the country. But it's the hard-working men who serve it all up that keep us coming back for more...

One of Portland's hottest young baristas, Brady is famous for his java-topping flair, turning a regular cup of joe into a work of art. Every Wednesday--aka "Knit Night"--hordes of women and their needles descend on the coffeehouse, and Brady's feeling the heat. Into the fray walks a tall, dark, and distractingly handsome stranger from New York. His name is Evren, and he's the sexy nephew of Brady's sweetest customer, the owner of the yarn shop down the street. He's also got a killer smile, confident air, and masculine charm that's tying Brady's stomach in knots. The smitten barista can't wait to see him at the next week's gathering. But when he tries to ask Evren out, his plans unravel faster than an unfinished edge. If Brady hopes to warm up more than Evren's coffee, he'll have to find a way to untangle their feelings, get out of the friend zone, and form a close-knit bond that's bound to last a lifetime...

Ah brace yourself for another angsty addition...

Here Brady and Evren both have the weight of the world on their shoulders, each with many responsibilities and too little time for themselves, let alone for something more.

Being friends is what's decided. Friends who text and call. Friends who kiss. Friends who sex each other up and rely on each other more and more.

This was a bit different in the smex department which other reviewers have commented on. I admit that I too wanted and missed those specific aspects, but really, that's just a matter of preferences. My least favorite in this series but regardless, Albert continues to deliver great storytelling with emotion, heart, and a little dirty thrown in. ( )

Ev is a kind of standoffish, I found difficult to bridge the gap to empathize with him. The rest was good. ( )

Sweet. :) Hurdles? OH yeah, time constraints, familial obligations, loss, money issues, schedules, misconceptions. But lust, and willingness to hunt common ground, time to explore (stolen time). While the HEA is expected, the way it is presented is devastatingly sweet. ( )

Knit Tight is the fourth story in the ‘Portland Heat’ series. The main characters are Brady, a barista, and Evren, a blogger and knitter. The story is told in first person through the eyes of Brady.

I’m reading Knit Tight as part of a volume set made up of books 4-6. I’ll review the books individually, and also make a final review of the set after I finish reading all three books.

The theme of this story was family. Both Brady and Evren are responsible for their respective families. For the last two years, Brady has looked after his four siblings after their mother and stepfather died in an accident. He’s stressed from the responsibilities with no free time for himself. His eighteen year old sister is starting to slack off with helping out. She doesn’t want to be burdened because she now has a boyfriend. Evren has moved to town to look after the knit shop, Iplik for his aunt, who’s dealing with cancer. Both men are attracted to each other right off the bat but have difficulties making time for each other. Evren also has issues with the fact that Brady is bi. Evren has had relationships with bi men where he’s been burned and now has misconceptions of what bi means or whether or not Brady can be trusted.

The author did a good job of making the voices of Brady and Evren distinct. Evren’s voice had a slow, halting quality to it that conveyed that English was his second language. I enjoyed his speech pattern. Evren was a cautious man, while Brady was more outgoing. The conflict between the two was Evren’s suspicion about bi men, and the responsibilities that Evren and Brady had for their families.

The pace of the story is slow, with the attraction between the men gradually growing in heat. There’s BDSM light in this book, with Brady hinting to Evren what he likes and finding that they’re suited in this area.

The one issue I had with the book was the telling. A lot of it. The book is in first person and Brady just talks and talks in the beginning of the story describing just about everything. The shop, his life, Evren. Everything. I don’t usually like first person for the very reason that the story is often told rather than shown. And that’s what happened in this case. The telling ruined the story enough for me so that I can only give Knit Tight, 3 Stars. Other than the telling, I enjoyed the characters, the slow pace and how Brady and Evren learned that it was okay to rely on others for help, and how if they wanted to have a relationship, they had to work at it.

This series started off quite sweet and angst-free, what happened? This one had me in tears twice. Brady and Ev were an adorable couple, even when they weren't. The children were believable and realistic.
This might be my favourite one yet. (Did I say that about the last one?) ( )
