This is the story of Robin Stone, and the many people who are caught up in his meteoric career, not least three women: AMANDA, beautiful and doomed, whose career as a top-flight model is no consolation for her inability to win and hold Robin Stone; MAGGIE, an ambitious young actress who knows what she wants and will settle for nothing less than Robin Stone's love; and JUDITH, aristocratic, rich, married, desperate for love before it is too late, a woman who has everything in the world except the one thing she must have: Robin Stone himself. THE LOVE MACHINE... the bestseller from a time when steak, vodka and Benzedrine were the staples of a healthy diet, when movie stars wore wigs to bed, and high-powered executives called each other 'baby'. 'THE LOVE MACHINE is Robin Stone, a TV network titan around whom women flutter like so many moths. My all time favorite Susann novel. It has all the excitement, betrayal, drugs, sex and glitz you come to expect from Susann. And although the times have changed, this book is just as shocking and fun as it was when it first came into print in 1969. ( )
