The holidays have arrived, and Hannah and her good pal Lisa have agreed to provide all the goodies for the town's annual production of A Christmas Carol. But before anyone can say "Bah, humbug!" a Santa-sized sackful of trouble ensues. Like the fact that Lisa's husband will be playing Mr. Claus to his ex-girlfriend Phyllis Bates' Mrs. Claus. Or that before the curtains even go up Phyllis is found dead in the snow - wearing a costume that the real Mrs. Claus would put on the naughty list. Soon after the suspects pile up faster than snowdrifts in a blizzard, while a merry murderer remains on the loose. With clues even harder to find, it might take a visit from ghosts of Christmas past to wrap up this mystery in time for the holidays.… (más)

It took a surprisingly long time to get to the actual murder, and I'm not quite sure there was much detective work actually done. The characters were shallow, and I would emphatically recommend not starting with this one, because it operates under the assumption that you've read the other 19 and little in the way of character development or explanation is provided herein.
A quick vapid read, that I guess got me in the spirit of Christmas? ( )

I listened to the audiobook version on Audible and I found the recipes in the middle of the story quite distracting. If I was reading a physical copy, I could have skipped over the recipes and marked the pages to look at them later. ( )

I may have liked this "cozy" better if it hadn't been obvious to me who the murderer was fairly early on. Plus, while the recipes are easy to skim or skip in the written form, they were annoying in the audiobook version... ( )

Well, I wanted a light, quick read and it is holiday cozy time so Joanne Fluke it is but these are really getting bad. I don't read these in order because I only really like to read the holiday themed ones and it doesn't seem to matter plot-wise as no one ever changes or grows. She is still following the same formula but it would be nice if she at least would stop confronting the killer at the end all alone, especially since she dates a cop. Thankfully, this short book was taken up mostly with recipes which still wasn't enough to save it but at least I got some new recipe ideas. ( )

In this short Christmas novella, Hannah recounts for Ross a Christmas from the year before when she was called upon to solve a murder that took place in the town theatre production. Lots of jealousy between several different parties. I loved that this one included many familiar Lake Eden characters.

Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader.
