A simple, funny little book about a boy and his encounter with a tree, and the resulting treatment of the splinter he acquired. Lovely illustrations. I had never run across the Donald books before--a surprise treat! ( )

Neumeyer & Edward Gorey|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1334768637s/13607318.jpg|19203167], and they are both such treasures. Any excuse to pore over Edward Gorey's marvelous illustrations, and the quirky stories by Neumeyer are just an added bonus. ( )
Once again, a cute, but not cutesy, tale of Donald, his mishaps in the woods, and his wonderful mother. This book features Donald's hilariously-weird looking dog! It also has a really sweet story at the end about Neumeyer's collaborations with Gorey and how Gorey wanted to do a whole series of Donald books that, sadly, never happened. ( )
