I have mixed feelings about this biography. Generally, I don't mind when books are very straightforward and blunt about what the topic they are covering, but this book may have been a little too much. This book chose to discuss Michael Jackson's trial in the early 2000's which revolved around molestation charges. I don't think that's very appropriate to discuss with children or have them read. Yes, that was a part of his life, however, this book's main audience is children, so it should remain child appropriate. On the flip side, I did really enjoy the amount of details in the book. I also like the fact that the author included a timeline in the end of the book to highlight the major events in Jackson's life. The book includes another timeline to show other major world and pop culture events that occurred during Jackson's lifetime. I think the book's main message is that our heroes can also be deeply flawed behind closed doors and have cracks in their armor. And that's okay. ( )
