I really liked this book and I learned a lot about system performance projects in general and Oracle Optimizing specifically. While he spent the first couple chapters telling me how great Method R is but not really getting into the details for several chapters. The whole book was full of useful information. I really liked how he pointed out many 'gotchas' that people fall for when trying to fix a problem.

This is definitely a method worth trying out if your wanting to improve performance on an Oracle system. However, if you are expecting specific Oracle tuning help, such as making a stored procedure more efficient or suggestions on which indexes to implement this is not the book. ( )
