The amazing story of Edith Houghton, a young girl who played professional baseball and traveled the world on a team in the early twentieth century. Houghton’s life is an inspiration for female athletes. Author’s Note. I always like a good book about a female making waves across lines. One of my favorite movies is "A League of their own", so this book interested me a lot. Like the other biographies I have read, this one was also about a person I did not know. I would like to introduce this book to my daughter because she loves to play softball. It is a great book to get her wheels spinning and encourage her to be at her best. This is an amazing and inspirational true story about Edith Houghton, who played with a professional women's baseball team at the age of ten. Honestly, I have never heard of Edith Houghton before reading this book, but i'm glad I read about her. The story is richly told and the simple illustrations put readers back in the time of when the story took place. This story would be a good read for elementary school students, particularly a group of young girl athletes. An inspirational biography of a child who perused their passion and was not stopped by conventions or limitations, this book is a true account of Edith Houghton who as a child toured internationally as a professional baseball player. Realistic yet sketchy illustrations give a wonderful sense of the time period. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
