Bedtime

I dunno. Each of these stories is acceptable, but not much happens in them and they belabour the point and Scarry does seem to have a particular fixation on people going to jail. And on cars, which is fine in Cars and Trucks and Things That Go where we never slow down long enough for the story to congeal and the essential dullness of many of the events depicted ("out comes asphalt. Hot, steaming asphalt") to catch up with us, but not so much here where we are doing vignettes and so that doesn't happen. ( )

This children's book has 4 stories. All are intersting and fun stories. Illustration is about 50 percent of the page space.
The inside front cover has a lace for the child's name. This little book is a good value for quality time with toddlers and maybe slightly older chidren. ( )

This would be a good book for parents to read to their young children before bed. it calms them down and the pictures show that the children in the book are going to sleep too!
