Usually I find the narration increases my enjoyment on a book. This narrator was not a favourite. ( )

Tristan is Noel's friend who sustained a life changing brain injury when they were attacked three years ago. Gabe rescued Tristan when he was having one of his frequent memory loss episodes in a bar. Neither could forgot the other. Gabe is interested and patient with the vivacious Tristan, which is what he needs.... especially the patience part. A new drug trial is starting that may help Tristan and he is willing to do whatever he can to regain even a small amount of his memories...but of course there are side effects, some yet unknown, some downright scary. As the two men get to know one another more, they learn that they each have problems and life challenges. Gabe supports his alcoholic mother by working three jobs...one is in porn. The porn job brings in good money, but there still never seems to be enough. There are several threads going on, each weaving a beautiful tale of two men who were fortunate enough to find someone who comforts them...who doesn't judge them...and who can thoroughly love them for just who they are. The reader can easily feel the frustrations Tristan has with his memory issues, and we can also deeply feel the love and devotion Gabe has for him. ( )

I regretted not reading the fist book in the series before getting into this. I totally understood everything though, but there were a couple of scenes from Noel' POV. He's one of the MC's in the first book, and he has a strong connection with Tristan, and I think I would've understood their relationship better, if I had read that book.

I had no idea how the author would write from a guy's POV, who lives his life in 30 minute time periods. I expected a lot of repeating. There were some, bot it didn't annoy me. I'm not gonna get into the HOW, but it turned out really great. I really loved it. Tristan is an amazing character, he made me laugh, and swoon, he's so freaking cute, and lively, despite everything that happened.

It's a beautiful love story, low angst, low drama. ( )

This was great. Despite seeming to have a lot of angst (traumatic brain injury, amnesia, alcoholism), the romance was actually really fluffy. I loved that Gabe and Tristan started falling for each other through email. ( )

You know what I hate? Reading a book blurb that describes just the kind of book I'm in the mood for (in this case a book about an mc with some type of health issue) and having to literally (yes, I said literally) force myself to finish said book.
Grrrr.....

You know what else I hate? When I'm delusional enough to think book two of a series (in this case, this book, [b:The World As He Sees It|25152280|The World As He Sees It (Perspectives #2)|A.M. Arthur|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1433976596s/25152280.jpg|44854278]) will somehow be better than book one in a series, ([b:The Truth as He Knows It|23358161|The Truth as He Knows It (Perspectives, #1)|A.M. Arthur|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1413137678s/23358161.jpg|42914372]) when book one annoyed me so much I never finished it.

I also hate the fact that my memory (oops, no pun intended) is such shit I thought I had actually finished book one, [b:The Truth as He Knows It|23358161|The Truth as He Knows It (Perspectives, #1)|A.M. Arthur|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1413137678s/23358161.jpg|42914372], until I was mostly finished with this book, [b:The World As He Sees It|25152280|The World As He Sees It (Perspectives #2)|A.M. Arthur|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1433976596s/25152280.jpg|44854278]. And then I remembered why I never made it more than halfway through that book because those were the same reasons I struggled here.

I simply could not give the slightest fuck about these guys. Truly. And it wasn't even because the story was some over-the-top nonsense (which it sorta was). No, it was because it was so unbelievably unbelievable I couldn't even deal with it without snorting and rolling my eyes. And I say this as someone who is quite willing to suspend disbelief if the story is entertaining enough. And here's the thing: I know absolutely nothing about the validity of the drug trials depicted in this book. Maybe they exist, maybe they are purely the product of the author's imagination, but either way, I was totally able to buy into that. No, the part I found so ridiculously absurd was the fact that Tristan had no problem whatsoever with Gabe's "other" job. In fact, he was a-okay with it and even got off with Gabe while watching some of Gabe's scenes together. WTF?. Add to this, the fact that none of the MANY potential conflicts in this book ever really amounted to anything. Jobs, health care, dysfunctional families, fights with friends. It was all just a little bit of this and that with nothing played out enough for me to care.

Side Note:
This is one of 12-books I decided to read as part of my 12-Step Program for Sterek Addicts. Yes, I admit it, I'm a loon who got herself addicted to Teen Wolf fanfiction to the point I have seriously neglected my TBR shelf of commercially published books for the last five months. But, god, after wasting hours of my life on this book in the hopes that it would get better, I'm beginning to think being a Sterek addict really is not such a bad thing after all. ( )
