"Hawkeye returns in an all-new book featuring superstar writer Jeff Lemire in his Marvel debut and Eisner Award-winning artist Ramón Pérez, as they bring you a fresh new look into the life of everyone's favorite Avenger. With Kate Bishop, his trusted ward and protégé (not titles she would use) back at his side, Team Hawkeye is thrown into an all new adventure spanning two generations of avenging archers. Past and present lives collide as Kate and Clint face a threat that will challenge everything they know about what it means to be Hawkeye."--provided from Amazon.com.… (más)

Not too shabby of a Clint & Kate adventure, although I'm a little confused about the takeaway. Getting a look at Clint's backstory was interesting and I actually like the dreamy, sometimes eerie pastel colors those portions were done in. And the banter was fun, as ever! However, the present-day plot felt a little vague? I just didn't feel much substance behind it other than a way to emphasize what happened in Clint's past. Also, the last couple pages with that time jump felt SO STRANGE. I don't even know what to make of that. ( )

The art was amazing, but I didn't enjoy this one as much as Fraction's. Maybe that's just because this was my first comics series and I haven't seen a lot to compare it to though. ( )

Pretty cool art in this one, and I was glad there was no sign of the neighborhood mobsters. You can only read "bro" so many times before your eyeballs fall out. ( )

Leiam! ( )

Not sure why this Hawkeye is considered "all-new," but it sure was a good collection! Perez's unique illustrative style perfectly captures both sides of the story, and creates a sharp tension between the two parallel story arcs. In the pastel-toned remembrance of the young Clint Barton's life, we are privy to the moment when he and his brother run away from their last abusive foster home and join the circus. But beneath the big top and behind the greasepaint, all is not as idyllic as the naive Clint would like to think; not only is his brother strongarmed into participating in the thievery that aids the circus' regular income, but he discovers that the man who has acted like a mentor is actually involved in some even nastier schemes. Ever the upright citizen, the young Hawkeye refuses to go along with this dubious behaviour - which plays a striking counterpoint to his harsh decisions as an adult in the secondary story. Kate, now the one playing young and naive, has to learn the hard way that sometimes the best choice doesn't always seem like the right choice at the time. Maybe that new perspective is where the title comes from - especially if she's going to play more of a role as the second Hawkeye. ( )
