Four girlfriends are out in a rowboat and spot a man calling for help in a sinking boat. They go to help him and attempt to pull him onto their boat with difficulty. A local man on shore spots them and dives in and swims out to help them pull him into their boat. Once back on shore he states that they tried to drown him and one of them hit him on the head with the oar. Ian is sent to Cornwall to investigate. ( ) This is another book in the Ian Rutledge series that I've been reading all out of order. This was one of the best so far. Ian must investigate a case in Cornwall where four young women of good class have been accused of attempting murder against a drowning man. Kate Gordon, one of Ian's friends, is one of the women. The story has a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing and ended very satisfactorily. Also, we get to see lots of the lovely Cornish countryside and villages. Another very good book in a very good series. NO SHRED OF EVIDENCE is book 18 in the Inspector Ian Rutledge series. I have only previously read the first book in this series, but I had no problem getting into this book. There are some mentioning of events from previous books, but I don't think one needs to read previous books to keep up with what's going on in NO SHRED OF EVIDENCE.
