Justina Robson is one of those writers that I enjoy reading but afterwards my brain is seriously wondering what I just read.

Nico and Twostar are orphans who grew up in the underbelly of the society of Harmony. The story starts with Nico being sentenced to death and then goes back for a bit to see what brought him to this point. It's complex and twisty and afterwards I'm still not sure what happened there. Nico and Twostar are interesting characters. The whole thing is told from Nico's point of view, which is complex, and he keeps having to deal with complex messy issues that he has very little control about.

It brings out interesting issues about autonomy and independence and about people being true to themselves. ( )
