Old Orchard Farm / the story of an Iowa boyhoood, by Hugh Orchard (read July 10, 1999) This is a slight book, published in 1952, and telling of the author's life on an Iowa farm in the 1880's It tells of a farm life quite foreign to me in some ways. They worked awfully hard, and had no steam engine to do threshing, much less a tractor (the thresher was powered by horses!) This was not a bad book, but it was not well put together, mostly things
remembered by an 80-year-old man. ( )
