Scorch trials first opens with group A the gladers who wake up in a room full of bunk beds. The suddenly screams of cranks! "Kill me", "I'm a bloody crank"(cranks are like zombies but they have the flare, which eats their brains.) Thomas wakes to find the boys huddled in a group on the other side of the room. Then something goes wrong and the door would not open, when it does they find themselves in a dark room.the dark room has objects hanging from the ceiling, which later turns out to be the people who rescued them hanging. when the boys find "Teresa's room" which turns out to be a boys room. The boys name is Aris who stood in shock at the gladers. After about two hour of them talking they go back out to the hallway to find no dead body hanging. Where they meet Rat man, who says they have the flare and have to go into the scorch for the antibiotic. The dark hallway they go throw is where Winson and a few other boys die. After about a week of being in the scorch the boys meet Jorge and Brenda, who are cranks. when they get to the safe haven Teresa kidnaps to help them before, where Thomas gets threatened to get killed but doesn't. when they get there they fight off bulb monsters in coffins to live humanly again. then they get to the real safe haven where they go throw testing and Newt is positive for being a full crank. the end of book two.
