W is for Wind: A Weather Alphabet is filled with information that answers questions about how much the atmosphere weighs, differences in clouds, etc. What I enjoyed most about W is for Wind is the inputs from professional weatherman and storm tracker Pat Michaels. He tells stories about everything from tornadoes and hurricanes to rainbows and evaporation. Each page is a different weather condition and topic. The students could read this book for information about different weather conditions but also play along with Pat Michaels as they act out like weather people and storm trackers. I could see first graders using this book during dramatic play or even when/if they do the daily weather with their class. ( )

Overall, this is an amazing children’s book. I enjoyed how descriptive it was. At the age I am, I did not even know some of the processes that happen in the world. From what I have learned in my science classes, this information is accurate. Everything in this book was done by science process skills in nature. I would use this book in a 3rd grade classroom. I might even use this book in a 4th grade classroom. I remember when I was in these two grades, I learned about glaciers, hurricanes jet streams, etc more in depth than any other grade. All these items in this book could be used and heard in a social studies lesson too. I could use this book when I teach a lesson about clouds, jet streams, hurricanes, glaciers and clouds. I could even read this book when I talk about all the weather process because they are unlimited in the world. ( )
