Good action story; somehow a bit more like what could happen in real life than most of this genre. The first of this series I've read, since I found the book in my local little free library, but I'll be reading more of Lucas Davenport. ( )

I just love the Lucas Davenport series. I can't wait to read about his adventures as the newly appointed US Marshal. Let the good times roll. ( )

Once I got into Extreme Prey, I listened to the end. The characters became real people to me, and the situations were common. I enjoyed it because Lucas Davenport was in the story and how it was told. Well done. ( )

Lucas Davenport, retired from Minnesota's BCA, is summoned by the governor, who wants to be chosen as a Vice Presidential running mate to someone who needs his Midwestern roots. The candidate's life has been threatened, and he asks Lucas to investigate. Much of the novel is Lucas looking into a fringe agrarian political group, who despise law enforcement and which has some skeletons in its closet. As Lucas narrows the field of assassins, his interviewees start dying; however, the time pressure is immense as the Iowa state fair approaches. ( )
