Just as Harper Price starts coming to terms with her role as David Stark's battle-ready Paladin, protector, and girlfriend, her world goes crazy all over again. Overwhelmed by his Oracle powers, David flees Pine Grove and starts turning teenage girls into Paladins; and these young ladies seem to think that Harper is the enemy David needs protecting from. Ordinarily, Harper would be able to fight off any Paladin who comes her way, but her powers have been dwindling since David left town, which means her life is on the line yet again. Now, it's a desperate race for Harper to find and rescue David before she backslides from superhero to your garden-variety type-A belle.… (más)

I enjoyed this a little more than Miss Mayhem but Rebel Belle is still by far the best book in this series. I do wish the ending was a little bit longer but overall good ending. Predictable, but still enjoyable. ( )

I can't bring myself to rate Rachel Hawkins lower than a 3, but I must say, the 2nd and 3rd books of this trilogy didn't live up to the promise of the first book. When Harper was getting used to her powers and sparks were starting to fly with David, the writing was snarky and fun. With the 2nd and 3rd books, there was angst, wonky pacing, and a plot that didn't always make sense.
This last installment separated the characters who have the best scenes together, and kept them separate for nearly the entire book. I never thought I'd want a certain character from the first book (it's Blythe) to show up again, but her return signaled the return of the Rachel Hawkins humor I'd been missing.
When Harper is in an adversarial relationship with someone, she's a whole lot funnier.
I sometimes recommend to people that they only read the first book in a trilogy. This would be one of those cases. I still love the author, but I didn't love this book. ( )

After the first two books, this just felt slow and unnecessary. There wasn't enough relevant content for a whole book. I feel like the author should've just added this onto book two and been done with it. The entire story is Harper trying to find David to stop him from destroying everything. When she finally finds him, the battle was a let down. Maybe if we got more of David's point of view, if more time had passed since the last book, or Harper had found David earlier it would've been better. The ending was okay, I just wanted a lot more to happen. ( )

The last of the trilogy, "Rebel Belles" was a let down.... I suppose there was only one of two ways to end this, and Hawkins chose the one that would make readers the happiest.

Harper is the class president, cheerleader, prom queen, school paper editor, over achiever, & Paladin (one who protects the Oracle). Her best friend Bee is also a Paladin. Bee's boyfriend & Harper's ex is a Mage and Harper's missing Boyfriend, David is the Oracle turned rogue.

As David became more powerful, the adult super-powers fought over who would control him, they are all dead. David is on the run, the Oracle in him having visions that Harper will soon drive a sword through him, thus killing him.

With only 4 weeks before their senior year begins; Harper, Bee & Blythe (another Mage who once tried to kill Harper) have joined forces & given themselves 2 weeks to find & save David.

Honestly, there wasn't much to the story, 3 girls arguing through a Road Trip, fighting off other female Paladins trying to kill Harper...

This last book was seriously lacking. ( )

Its always a terribly tragic thing when a book series comes to an end. While I prefer this to an extended nineteen book series where the story loses purpose, its always hard letting go of a fictional universe you've immersed yourself in. I've adored this book series since Rebel Belle was first released and reading this final book was like saying goodbye to a really good friend. I became such a big Rachel Hawkins fan thanks to this series that my attachment to it was all the more sentimental.

But onto the story...

While I really enjoyed reading this book, I feel like the ending was too rushed and too cliche to completely satisfy the reader. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed it! However, the main climatic scene happened so quickly that I feel like I almost missed it. I feel like I can't completely describe its effect without accidentally revealing a spoiler so I'll just leave it at that. Aside from that issue, we still get the same adorably witty characters (save for David who's in a bit of a pickle) and quality writing that was featured in the other two novels. If you've loved the Rebel Belle series as much as I have for the past couple of years, Lady Renegades will be a real treat! ( )
