A classic play in which a teacher at a girl's school has different ideas about proper education than the school. She challenges the girls to be what she wishes them to be, and attempts to mold them in her image. It is an interesting work, well developed, with characters that are familiar and strange at the same time. They represent another time, another place, but are nonetheless timely. It is a thought-provoking work, because it leaves you wondering who, if anyone, you can root for or agree with. The characters are not sympathetic, but you still find yourself drawn to them as characters, and you won't put it down immediately. ( ) Miss Jean Brodie teaches at a girls' boarding school in Scotland. She is a woman "ahead of her time" (the 1930's). She thinks Mussolini is a grand man, is given to quoting Robert Burns, and declares her intention to make free thinkers of all her students. She is convinced that she is among the Philistines. She is utterly self-absorbed, and absolutely certain she is superior to all her colleagues. She is a tornado tearing up the lives around her: her heedlessness leads to tragic consequences. A very good drama in three acts. I ended up feeling sorry for and despising Miss Brodie all at the same time. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie tells the story of an educator's effect on impressionable young ladies at the Marcia Blaine School for Girls in Edinburgh, revealing the challenges they face growing up in 1930s Scotland. Devoted to her students, Miss Brodie endeavors to fill them with a love of art and culture and as much self-confidence as she possesses. In doing so, she offends the conservative Miss Gaunt, tests the patience of headmistress Miss Mackay, and incites the passions of married art instructor Teddy Lloyd.
