Book 3 of 3

The older of the wild sisters has her chance to have love. ( )

Title: Fire & Ice (Wild at Heart #3)
Author: Mary Connealy
Pages: 336
Year: 2015
Publisher: Bethany
My Rating: 5+ stars.
There is a lot of emotion and tension throughout all three books of the series as the main storyline is how three sisters disguise themselves as men in order to fight in the Civil War. In my opinion, the novels would be much more enjoyable if they were each read in order beginning with Tried & True, followed by Now & Forever before the series concludes with Fire & Ice.
Each novel is written by the same author who really has a way of bringing some surprises to readers somewhere in each book and sometimes more than one! Here the story focuses on the eldest of three daughters of a widower who is less than a stellar father. The daughter’s name is Bailey. Her father, Cudgel, has the sole focus of building a dynasty though all three of his girls, though he masks it by saying it was for his son Jimmy who he lost in the war.
What is so enjoyable about the books is watching how God works in the heart of all three girls. Though the sisters are very close to each other they are as different as day is from night. Their personalities, likes, dislikes, lifestyles and more bring spice and sometimes laughter when all three are together.
During the winter months, these are the best kind of stories to curl up with underneath a warm blanket to read, share or give as a gift to someone you know. It was fun seeing how each sister met her future husband and in such unique situations. Please consider reading these books for yourself and maybe giving the books away so others can enjoy the stories too or keep them to pass on to the next generation in your family.

Fire and Ice Wild At Heart Book 3 by Mary Connealy is a great mixture of Romance, History and Mystery.

Bailey Wilde is the last of the Wilde sisters to still be single and have her own homestead. She is tough, strong and very independent but when her sisters with their husbands leave and she faces a lonely winter it makes her realize that maybe she does need someone else around. So when Gage suggests she marry him to help him out of a spot of trouble she agrees but on her own terms. Can they make it work and can they also find out who is trying to kill Gage while they are at it?

This is a book of love, faith, forgiveness, and mystery all wrapped up in a great story of one woman's journey. Bailey Wilde has to learn to forgive herself and others so she can learn to love. She is a strong independent person which I like. I think of her as being like Annie Oakley. She has courage, strength, and is smart too which I like in a character. This is one of those books that you just want to sit and read with no interruptions.

If you like historical romance mixed with a mystery and has strong characters then don't miss this one. Even though it is the third book in the trilogy it can be read as a stand alone book which I like but reading it will make you want to read the other two books about the other Wilde sisters.

Mary Connealy has a way in her writing that makes it easy to picture and relate to her characters and their surroundings. She has another great book you won't want to miss.

Fire & Ice (Wild at Heart) by Mary Connealy
Read 11/17/2015 Reviewed 2/27/2016

I bought this book with my hard earned retirement money because Mary Connealy is one of my favorite authors and I plan to give an honest review. Mary always has something in her books that make me laugh out loud (even in the middle of the night). This is the third and last book in this series. In one way this was my least favorite in the series (because the other sisters and their families aren’t in the book as much) but in another way it was my favorite. Bailey had the most to cover come by revealing to the world that she is a “woman dressed as a man”. She has shoulder her father’s disapproval more so that the other sisters but still seeks his approval. Gage Coulter is the only man that could be a match to Bailey’s personality and stand up to her father. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the entire series. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys some comedy with their romance.

I loved Fire and Ice and was drawn into the story from the standoff in chapter one. Bailey Wilde is the kind of woman that you find yourself cheering on from the beginning. She’s ornery and strong willed probably why she’s still alive based on her past adversities. But she’s also got the heart of woman who longs to be loved even if she can’t admit it right up front.

This book had me literally laughing out loud. Ma Coulter made me want to tie her up and put her in the closet. At times, I wanted to slap Gage Coulter around a little bit for being such a baby but he too, won my heart. The story was wonderfully done and I enjoyed every last page.

This was my first Mary Connealy book and it’s definitely just the beginning! Although Fire and Ice is the third book in the Wild at Heart Series I was able to read it as a standalone without any problems.

Last but not least, here’s my favorite quotes from the book:

“Resting a hand on her arm, he said, “I’d stay beside you at all times. But you can’t make decisions based on fear.” (pg. 249)

Gage couldn’t believe he’d brought a pregnant woman to a gunfight. Surely that was such a big sin that it was written right down in the Bible somewhere. Probably in big letters.” (pg. 293)

I give it five out of five stars and have added the rest of her books to my must read list. I received this book from Bethany House Publishers, NetGalley and the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
