The gender politics of this world are fascinating and extremely well developed and tastefully explored. The prose style is unique in the comic medium, in my experience at least. The only dialogue in the series is between gods, the rest is told in Homeric verse by an omnipotent narrator. The lack of speech bubbles is fascinating and a bit jarring to begin with, but the interplay of the narration with the art is truly stunning and worth every moment. ( ) An exciting re-imagining of The Odyssey, with all-female characters (including the gods). Odyssia is the fate-tossed hero, eager for adventure and war but yearning for home. It was fun to see how Fraction re-imagined the classic obstacles: the cyclops still has one eye, but she also has three breasts; Aeolus is still a man, but now has a space station full of women whom he tries to impregnate with a son The language, as many have noted, is odd. Fraction writes in verse, just like Homer, but doesn't stick to a style. Sometimes it's archaic, sometimes it's modern, sometimes it fits the rules, sometimes it doesn't. If he had stuck to the more traditional style, it would have been more successful, I think. This is a book that's good but I feel like it tries to hard to be something different. I think the story has been told so many times that it hurts the creativity of the writer. If this story was about a group of women traveling through space it might have been a better story. Having to keep to the elements of the original Odyssey held back the writer and this story. I read this both via NetGalley. I thank them for this book. #NetGalley sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

ODY-C, modeled after Homer's Odyssey, is a psychedelic, gender-broke science-fiction epic that tells the story of three legendary warrior-queens, Odyssia, Ene and Gamem, returning home after a centuries-long battle. Told in verse with a visual sensibility that redefines the very possibilities of the comic's medium. FRACTION and WARD are doing wildly imaginative work combining fantastic Greek mythology with futuristic science fiction, and the book has a visual sensibility unlike anything else on the stands.
