Fascinating story of a beautiful, intelligent woman from a privileged family who got into using meth. She tried to live a dual life, as a drug addict, and as a successful toxicologist. Her world starting closing in, and she chose murder as a way out. Interesting amount of denial by her and her family, especially her father, an expert on juvenile delinquency. Sad waste of lives. ( ) Really, really a poorly-written book. The story was interesting, but the way it was presented was not the best. The author tells the story twice, once as a narrative of Kristen’s life, and the second as the facts were revealed during the trial. The first time through the story I was fascinated by the character of Kristen Rossum and completely believed that she killed Greg. The second time through the story, I found my conviction waning. The evidence that is presented seemed circumstantial to me. I have never served on a jury, so it is hard for me to say what is reasonable doubt and what is not, but I was not convinced that Kristen had to have committed the crime. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Greg DeVillers was a top biotech executive, and Kristen Rossum was embarking on a career in toxicology at the San Diego Medical Examiner's office. They seemed to be happily married, living the American dream. But only months shy of their second anniversary, Kristen found her handsome husband dead from a drug overdose-his corpse sprinkled with rose petals. By his side was their wedding photo. The scene was reminiscent of American Beauty, one of Kristen's favorite movies. Authorities deemed it a suicide. Until they discovered that the rare poison found in Greg's body was the same poison missing from Kristen's office. Until they discovered the truth about Kristen's lurid affair, about her own long-time drug addiction, and about the personal and professional secrets she would kill to keep hidden-secrets that would ultimately expose the beautiful blonde as the deadly beauty she really was...a Deadly American Beauty No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
