They were eating lunch, then the next paragraph they are getting ready for bed? There is NO coffee in the house but next paragraph the friend is reading the paper while drinking coffee? When you basically can't stand the h and keep wishing the H will walk away, it's not a good read. It felt like it might be a first time author book to me. There were many OTT situations that didn't fit too. ( ) This is a really good story, the author manages to make it emotional and funny, i even found myself crying (sneaky tears) then laughing in the next breath. The main character Gwen is really sarcastic which as a fan of sarcasm myself i find very amusing, its portrayed in conversation but also in her thoughts. So the plot.... Gwen has a really bad experience in New York at the hands of her ex so she moves to a back water town with her best friend Amy, to start fresh opening a clothing store, then she meets Cade who she is attracted to but he has bad boy written all over him and also scares her as he reminds her of some of her past which I don't want to explain for fear of spoiling the plot. It deals with their relationship, her recovery, his crazy sort of ex and New Zealand.( you'll just have to read it to find out) Anne Malcom introduces us to a group of friends which creates a warm and funny community spirit in the book but also introduces people who could have their own story in the following books or could have a sub story, there is definitely potential for lots more interesting books. About 3/4 of the way through the book something very tragic happens ( no spoilers) you know its coming cos everyone is so happy lol, at this point the writing is fantastic, so moving but also very realistic as it takes time to recover and deal with things. Really looking forward to the next book which is her best friend Amy. 💄👠👚👙👗👝👜 💓💕💋🍸🍷🍹 Before I get into my review of this... cough...book...cough...I feel I should explain how I try to handle rating and reviewing books. Rating a DNF book is always tricky. After reading other reviewers' guidelines I've decided to adopt the following guidelines when dealing with DNF books: If I make it more than 50% and still feel the need to DNF a book I will leave a rating. If a book is still crap halfway through there is still not a lot of hope for it and I have no problem assigning a star rating to it. If the book has not pissed me off so completely that all I want to do is crawl into a hole and forget I ever opened it I will take the time to leave a review telling readers why I DNF'd it. That's only fair, right? But if I don't make it very far into the book I don't know how fair it is to rate a book. Maybe it got better, how would I know? I might still leave a review sharing my thoughts, but that is unlikely. If I don't want to take the time to finish the book I certainly don't want to take the time to type out a review. So if I were to follow my own guidelines, [b:Making the Cut|25440989|Making the Cut (Sons of Templar MC, #1)|Anne Malcom|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1431391476s/25440989.jpg|45206169] (which I barely made to the 25%mark) would get no star ratings but maybe a brief review. But guidelines are not rules, and thank God for that, because readers need to be warned about this train wreck and the author needs a swift kick in the tush that only a one star can give her. I tried so very hard to read this book. In fact, I tried three times to read this book because so many readers said it was pretty good, even with the horrendous editing. The story sounded like one I would really enjoy, were it not for the editing nightmare. So I got my hopes up when I noticed the book had been pulled from Amazon to be re-edited. With a few clicks I was starting the book, Take Two. I made it one chapter further than last time before I called a time out. Went back and read more reviews, still thought the story sounded good, and began Take Three. But nope, couldn't do it. All I can say is I am glad it was on Kindle Unlimited because I would be livid had I paid for this book. Considering I only have one complaint about this book (the editing) you probably think I'm going a bit overboard here. But I. Am. Not! I highlighted almost 100 errors in the first 25% of the book and that was just errors involving commas. Honestly, it all boils down to this: no matter how creative the story, I can not stay engaged if I am constantly thrown out of the story by punctuation, grammar, spelling mistakes. By words used incorrectly. I simply do not understand how any writer can expect to put out a product so clearly unfinished and not expect to see a ton of one stars pop up. Even my kids get graded on editing when turning in their work and they are not even expecting payment for their final product. Writing a book may be a creative endeavor but selling a book is a business. If this writer hopes to make a living at this she needs to splurge on a good editor. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
