Nesbit is the Memorial Guest of Honor at Readercon, which is why I'm reading. I'd never heard of Nesbit before so this is entirely new to me. It's charming and witty in many ways, but the "red Indians" and "brown savages" and other racist ideas aren't palatable to me as a modern reader. The children are terrible, as children are, and the snarky narrative voice reminds me of all the things I adore about Lemony Snicket. I'm enjoying this reading as con prep but without the "reward" of panels at the end I don't think I would have read more than one book just to say I did. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
