A young child shows her brother how to make a snowman ("Year after year, these things work!) At dinner, realizing that their creation is alone, she regrets what they have done. ("We never should have made him.") Her mother reproves her ("You're going to have a hard life if you cry over things like that," but her father goes outside with her to build a wife for the snowman. Her mother helps in her own way: she turns on the porch light; so it's not as if she disapproves.

This is such a small story with indistinct figures painted with pastels, but it touches on so many issues and middot (attributes): Kindness --- of the girl to her brother, of the father to the girl, of the girl to the snowman, of the mother to her family. Teaching/sharing: explaining the rules of how to make a snowman. Responsibility: the girl is worried about her creature's happiness. It reminds me of G-d regretting that he had created the world, although for a different reason, and that He provides Adam with a helpmeet/companion because it is not good for him to be alone. ( )
