Maybe I chose the wrong Lovecraft stories to read but his writing seemed mediocre to me. Some of writings were okay but his over use of SAT vocab made him just seem pretentious. Also, there was nothing scary at all in his stories. Just hearing about people being scared isn't, in itself, scary. I thought I was going to work through a few volumes of this author's writings but now, I think not. ( )
