I loved this book unequivocally. It is an amazingly beautiful blending of Celtic fairy tales seamlessly intertwined with the real world. The characters are likable and the story is very well written. I was immediately drawn into this fictional world and didn't want to leave it. Even now, I want more! I would love to continue reading about these characters and keep myself immersed in their world. ( )Conn McLaren and his three siblings have lived for centuries under a wicked curse that turns them into black swans during the day. Because of their curse they are unable to stay in one place for too long so they tour around the world playing classic Celtic music. So it is that Conn arrives in the small town of Antrim Maine and meets Taisie MacDonnell and the two feel the chemistry between them instantly. Taisie is the last true mate to the siblings and she is the only one with her skill in knitting and the love she has for Conn that can break the curse on the siblings. A modern day romantic fairy tale full of action and adventure that uses characters straight out of Celtic legends complete with a beautiful happy ever after ending. I was given this book to read in exchange for an honest review and I'm so glad I did because I can't wait to read more of the mythical and magical happenings in the fictional town of Antrim Maine. Starts off like a soft romance but then things change and it surprises you! Really enjoyed it and look forward to more books from this author. Brilliant use of old tales! I received a copy of this romantic fantasy book in exchange for a review. I couldn't get sucked into the story, but I did read past chapter 5. Maybe the main characters (i.e. family of musicians) were too young. Maybe I'm too old. All I know is... I'm the ideal target audience for this clean romance. Despite stopping midway, the author does write well and does follow the rules of story structure, which is why I didn't stop earlier. Esta reseña ha sido escrita para Sorteo de miembros LibraryThing. See publisher's blurb for overview.Nothing like a reinterpreted folk tale involving magic, the Fae, and KNITTING! Well-written and engaging, it kept me smiling and riveted to the end. I won this book from a LibraryThing giveaway and was sent to my Kindle from the author, N. W. Moors.. This is a book for anyone that loves folk lore, Irish tales, romance, fantasy and a very readable story. The story takes place in contemporary Antrim, VT. The story of Conn and his twin brother Finn; Hugh and his twin Nola make up the McLaren family. Owen Campbell is Nola’s love They are all members of an Irish band. The other main family is the MacDonald’s. Taisie is the daughter of Randle and Lovey and granddaughter of Gran Isabella. A close friend is an eccentric lady by the name of Gilly. This is the story of a gentle love between Taisie and Conn. This is my favorite book of the year so far. The only con would be that it took the author 100 pages to set up the story as many authors do today.
The Black Swans is a 2015 B.R.A.G Medallion Honoree.Taisie MacDonnell is a quiet girl who loves knitting and Celtic music. When a traditional Irish group moves to her small town of Antrim, Maine, she's thrilled. And that the handsome pipe player she met at a fair is one of the band members makes it all the more exciting. Conn McLaren and his siblings that make up the band, The Black Swans, are wanderers, moving from place to place. They have a secret that they must hide, a curse they have been under for many years, placed on them by the Fae at the behest of their step-mother, Aoife. Taisie has no idea that becoming involved with Conn, the handsome pipe player, will enmesh her in magic, a centuries-old enchantment and pursuit by the Fae. This book is a modern retelling of the old Irish story "The Children of Lir". No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
