One year before, Dr. Strangeness treats a Mrs Johnson, but now he has taken over a medical practice in Rochester and meets her again as Mrs Angelina Frood, who is hiding from her husband. But when she goes missing he feels inclined to investigate and involves Dr Thorndyke in the mystery.

A nice period mystery with a surprise ending. Did NOT see it coming. (

While fun, I didn't enjoy this as much as most Freemans: there wasn't enough of Dr. Thorndyke's investigation, it didn't have the London details that I enjoy so much in Freeman's books, and I guesses the gimmick. Still fun, though, with the unexpected humor and the little details of daily life. (
