When he sneaks in the kitchen past the sleeping cat, mouse starts grabbing all the food around him. This is a good book to practice counting because each food he grabs adds up ex: 1 piece of cheese, 2 plums, 3 baby carrots, etc. When he finally gets all the food on a tray and carries it out of the kitchen, there is no way all of it is going to fit through his mouse hole. The mouse accidentally drops the heavy tray and everything spills everywhere leaving the one piece of cheese in front of him. How ironic! Genre: Contemporary Realistic Fiction Media: Pencil and Watercolor This book is CRF because it is about a mouse going to get food and then getting caught by the cat and he only ends up with one piece of cheese. This book is okay but not my favorite. I don't think I would pay money to have it in my classroom library. It's cute but is just plain. It has nothing special to grab your attention with. Although it does include some counting. But I feel like if I were to buy a book I could find one that incorporated counting that I liked better. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The pictures in this book really help depict what is happening. From the very first page, we see in the words and pictures that the mouse is leaving his hole in the wall to go get some snacks. The pictures show the mouse leaving a trail behind foreshadowing that someone or something might catch him. Some of the pages have collages of pictures in order for us to see exactly what the words are saying. I really liked how the pictures and words correlated so well throughout the whole book. ( )
