Janine doesn't get easily influenced. She is very much a leader. Janine doesn't let the cool crowd get the upper hand on her. She knows she is different, but she embraces it, which makes her courageous and brave. The illustration of Janine is colorful, happy, and inviting. The formatting of the font was pretty enjoyable as well. It has different styles, which, to a young reader, makes it fun. ( ) Janine is unique. She is one of a kind. I assume she has autism since this book popped up under disabilities. She has a very original style that makes her very different from others. This makes her not cool to the cool kids so she is not invited to the party. But she throws her own party and everyone would rather go to hers. I like this book because I feel like it teaches a lesson that although someone may be different they can still be cool and you should still be friends with them. I think if this book was read to kids then the kids would enjoy it and understand that different people are fun and cool too. I feel this book says to not judge people by their appearance just because you may not wear the trending hairstyle or clothes. Janine is not accepted by her peers based on this in the book. I am glad she was able to find friends that were able to convey that being different doesn't mean you are weird and they refuse to accept that from their peers. I love that message Janine is about a spunky girl who is not at first accepted by her peers because they view her as "different". She wears mismatched socks, 4 ponytails, glasses, patched overalls and sports a personality larger than life. When the "cool" kids try to get her to change to fit in and come to their party, she refuses stating "I do not! I like me!" which is a very powerful statement for kids to hear and repeat. Eventually the kids realize there is everything cool about being different and join Janine at her own COOL party where everyone is invited no matter how different. Janine doesn't have a disability in the story however the book is based upon the life of a girl of the same name with CP, NLD and CVI. She too is a girl who chooses to focus on her ABILITLES rather than her disabilities and see the best in life. Kids are put down a lot in their younger days so confidence building is vital to their upbringing regardless of what is different. They need to know that they are perfectly created to be just who they are and they do not have to change for anyone or anything! I love how the author made words BIG and wavy and small and bold etc. further pointing out that differences add value to any story. Janine is a story about a girl who is seen as an outcast by one group of kids at school, while another group of kids think she's pretty great. Although not explicitly stated, in the back of the book it states that Janine (this story is based off of the author's daughter) has NLD, CP, and CVI. I liked how in this story, Janine embraces who she was, and although the other character shut Janine down, there was never a moment where Janine questioned who she was. I loved that positivity that Janine expressed, and many can learn from this. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
